Moton Community Union

In partnership with the Institute for Quality Communities (IQC), this adaptive reuse project will transform a former schoolhouse into a community incubator that preserves the essence of this predominantly Black community. Designed to foster fellowship, unity, and Black joy, this space will serve as a gallery where community members can reflect on Taft’s rich history and create new memories. With sustainable elements that reuse the existing structure and promote energy efficiency, the design prioritizes inclusivity while enhancing physical and emotional well-being. Through a tetradic color scheme that honors cultural heritage, this multi-functional facility will act as the cornerstone of life, pride, and resilience for all Taft residents.
